Yakitori Kitchen at Forbestown at the Fort

Yakitori Kitchen at The Fort

Yakitori (焼き鳥), grilled skewered chicken, is basically a Japanese type of skewered chicken. The term Yakitori can also refer to skewered food in general.  For our local version, its the barbecue stands you see from one corner to the other.  Grilling out those adidas, betamax, isaw, and chicken ass to mention a few.

Just a little trivia the average yakitori is made from several bite-sized pieces of chicken meat, or chicken offal, skewered on a bamboo skewer and grilled, usually over charcoal.

Diners ordering yakitori usually have a choice of having it cooked with salt (shio) or with tare sauce, which is generally made up of mirin, sake, soy sauce and sugar. The sauce is applied to the skewered meat and is grilled until delicately cooked.

Yakitori Kitchen recently opened its doors to the public, catering to locals and foreigners alike, made with only fine and imported ingredients from Japan to give you that authentic Japanese Yakitori feeling.

yakitori 26Do you know that almost every part of the chicken can be made into Yakitori?  Yes that's right, except for the feathers though haha.  But other chicken Yakitori kitchen innovates and gives you other choices to munch on such as quail eggs, garlic and the like.  With rice specials such as Chahan (fried rice), and other rice toppings, to fulfill your cravings.

Now let me tease you with what I was able to partake with The Food Club and tease you more as you drool over these delectable treats.  Each Yakitori order is made up of 2 sticks and the price is unbelievably affordable.  Take a bite at this.

Uzura (Quail Egg) - P95

yakitori 22

Jagabei (Potato wrapped in Bacon) P140

yakitori 20

Chikubei (Chikuwa wrapped in Bacon) P120

yakitori 19

Kamaboko (Crab cake) P95

This is my favorite for the specials other than the chicken, it is so tasty and full of flavor, and even though you know it's processed food, I just can't get enough of thisHighly recommended

Now let's start with the highlights of the night... Chicken

yakitori 18

First up! Bonchili (Chicken Tail) P150

my wife's favorite!  Yes they are indeed sinful, I was kinda skeptical to try it, since I don't really eat chicken tail, but with a little persuasion had me trying a piece; and after that I was sold, they were delicious.  This might be the only place I will ever eat chicken tail, as you can see they are smaller than usual and of course boneless and best of all it is all imported and very safe to eat.

yakitori 17

Yagen (Chicken Keel Bone) P140

Well here is something you don't see at all at other joints, these are chicken keel bone (cartilage), you know the cartilage of the breast part of the chicken, that's it.  This is the first time any restaurant has offered this for that matter and thus will always be a unique treat at Yakitori Kitchen.  If you just can't get enough of it this is definitely the place to go.

yakitori 15yakitori 16

Seseri (Chicken neck meat) P120

You know they are sinful, but you just have to have 'em,
so tasty and ooohhhh so delicious

Yakitori 6yakitori 11

Momo Ninniku (Chicken Leg meat with Garlic -L) P120 and
Kawa (Chicken Skin) P80, one of the deadliest addition to their menu
but let's be real and don't we all just love chicken skin

Yakitori 30

Alas, my favorite of the night Momo (Chicken leg meat) P100
if I had 20 sticks of these, I'll finish them in a flash!

yakitori 13

Ninniku (Garlic) P50

to lower your blood pressure...

yakitori 12

Now let's mix something else to this treat!
Asubei (Asparagus wrapped with Bacon) P140

yakitori 7

Yummy Corn (P85)

dipped and drizzled with their special salt and spices to you a
corny treat like no other.

Yakitori 3

Tsukune (Minced chicken ball) P120

Yakitori 4Yakitori 1

Here is the pink salt we were raving about the whole night.  Just the perfect ingredient to make the Yakitori all the more delicious

Yakitori 2

For rice lovers, you might want to try their Curry Chahan (P180), using Japanese yellow curry infused to mixed fried rice, it was kinda spicy but it was manageable for me.  They also have Chasyudon (Chasyu rice topping) and Yakitori Don (Yakitori rice topping)

yakitori 14

After all that eating here is our stick case where we place all our sticks after that sumptuous meal, just look at all that sticks, just shows how hungry we were.

And to chat the night away, Yakitori Kitchen offers different kinds of Sake, and Asahi beers, ranging from P80 up
