Four-time Forbes Travel Guide Five-Star Awardee upholds global health and safety protocols to make the hotel experience more meaningful
Amidst the flurry of embracing the “new normal,” it is important that we find the time to continue celebrating milestones and precious moments with our loved ones. Marco Polo Ortigas Manila is pleased to share that the lobby coffee shop Café Pronto, all-day restaurant Cucina and authentic Cantonese landmark Lung Hin are now open to dine-in customers in compliance with the regulations set by the Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19, the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Tourism, and the World Health Organisation.
As part of Wharf Hotels, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila also prescribes to the World Travel and Tourism Council’s (WTTC) “Safe Travels” Protocols. These protocols are developed continuously as organisations such as the WHO and the Centre for Disease Control (CDC) learn more about COVID-19 and how countries around the world can mitigate its impact on health and the economy. The “Safe Travels” protocols focus on different industries—currently available are those for hospitality, outdoor retail, aviation and airport management, tourism operators, and the meetings, incentives, conventions and events (MICE) sector. These guidelines emphasise that traveler and employee safety in the aforementioned sectors remain of primary importance, while ensuring positive steps towards business recovery. More information about the WTTC’s “Safe Travels” protocols are available via https://bit.ly/WTTCsafetravels.
“We are one with the national government and the World Travel and Tourism Council in observing proper safety and sanitation measures in our Hotel,” said Frank Reichenbach, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila general manager. “We remain committed to ensuring that our guests, partners, and associates safe and healthy while in our care. The ‘Safe Travels’ protocols will allow our team to mitigate the potential health risks, and promote more responsible business practices in our ‘new reality,” he added.
At the Marco Polo Ortigas Manila’s restaurants, compliance begins with strict observance of physical distancing and maximum dining occupancy. Dining utensils are also sanitised prior to use, with all dishes prepared a la minute to reduce risk of airborne bacteria contacting food. All food materials are transferred to air sealed containers and moved to prescribed temperature storage areas. Even the culinary team operating in enclosed spaces of food production and common areas observe physical distancing and make use of appropriate safety and hygiene equipment. Aside from having proper handwashing facilities available in its lavatories, the Hotel has also installed sanitation stations in all public areas for guests’ convenience.
To maintain cleanliness in its rooms and public areas, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila observes regular misting and disinfection of common hotel facilities such as lifts, hallways, and lobbies. Guest rooms are disinfected every time they are made up, while misting is scheduled every two days. Lifts for both guests and associates are sanitized every 30 minutes—this frequency applies to all door handles and counters such as Concierge and Front Office or registration desk. Laundry detergents used for all linens in the Hotel have complete sets of antibacterial compounds prescribed by international sanitation agencies.
It is said that challenges often pave the way for innovation and creativity. At Marco Polo Ortigas Manila, the health and safety of guests remain of utmost priority. In compliance with globally recognised operational standards, guests and associates can look forward to a more meaningful experience in the Hotel.
