Lee Kum Kee Announces Winners of 130th Anniversary Recipe Contest in the Philippines

Home business owner took home HKD 13,000 for her signature recipe


In celebration of its 130th Anniversary, “Lee Kum Kee 130th Anniversary Recipe Contest” was launched in 2018 globally to look for the best recipe created with Lee Kum Kee sauces and condiments. The competition received close to 500 entries worldwide, of which 50 came from the Philippines (https://130.lkk.com/winner-announcement/). On January 22, 2019, a Prize Presentation Ceremony was held to award the country’s two regional winners.

Home-maker and small business owner Ms. Venus Lorraine Moral took home the Most Liked Recipe Prize with her own version of the beloved Pinoy Local Empanada (https://130.lkk.com/recipe-detail/?rid=706) using Lee Kum Kee Premium Soy Sauce. The mother of one has been using Lee Kum Kee products in her home business for more than eight years. Sharing her passion for good food, Lorraine loves joining online cooking and recipe contests. The winning dish is her family favorite. As a cook, Lorraine loves using Lee Kum Kee products for its consistent taste, which makes every dish more delicious. As the winner with 2,370 online votes, Lorraine took home HKD 13,000 in cash (approximately PHP 87,000) and a gift package of Lee Kum Kee products. Pinoy chefs bag bronze awards at the Lee Kum Kee International Young Chef Chinese Culinary Challenge 2018


Three Pinoy chefs—Chef Elmar Ruelo of Wangfu and Chef Joel Aroy of King Chef and Chef John Flores of Grand Convention Centre Cebu —won bronze awards at the recently concluded Lee Kum Kee International Young Chef Chinese Culinary Challenge 2018. 

Held in Hong Kong on 19 and 20 September 2018, the competition welcomed 42 aspiring young chefs from 17 countries and regions in a contest where each participant was asked to create one dish in 90 minutes using designated ingredients paired with Lee Kum Kee sauces and condiments.

42 Talented Young Chefs from 17 Countries and Regions to Converge upon Lee Kum Kee International Young Chef Chinese Culinary Challenge 2018 to Vie for International Championship


Celebrity Chefs from Gourmet Variety Shows, Executive Chefs from Renowned Chinese Restaurants and Michelin-starred Chefs to Showcase Best Culinary Skills

Organised by Lee Kum Kee and steered by the World Federation of Chinese Catering Industry, the Lee Kum Kee International Young Chef Chinese Culinary Challenge 2018 (LKKIYCCCC 2018) will be held at the Chinese Culinary Institute on 19 and 20 September 2018. 42 aspiring young chefs from 17 countries and regions worldwide shortlisted from the rigorous preliminary rounds of the contest and selection process, including celebrity chefs from gourmet variety shows, executive chefs from renowned Chinese restaurants or the chefs from Michelin-starred restaurants, will converge under one roof to vie for the International championship.

Cook with the Masters and Lee Kum Kee

Lee Kum Kee recently concluded Cook with the Masters, a Lee Kum Kee weekend cooking festival, that featured the best chefs the Philippines has to offer with such greats as Chef Bruce Lim, Chef Eugene Raymundo, Chef Him Uy de Baron, Chef Sau del Rosario, Chef Ernest Reynoso Gala to name a few.

I was able to witness one of the masters Chef Him Uy de Baron, as he showcased his skills in the kitchen with the help of Lee Kum Kee products that brought his cooking to a whole new level of good taste and great creations.

Chef Him Uy de Baron amazed the audience with his quick and easy Lee Kum Kee recipes, Making use of the LKK Chili Garlic Sauce, the Premium Oyster sauce, the ever so sweet and tasty Hoisin Sauce and XO Sauce that has won fans from all over the world.

Lucky audience members of the cooking demo also got to show their skills in the kitchen as they shared the kitchen and the stage Chef Him cooking the special recipes as well. As the chefs shared the step by step process of the recipe, they also guided the demo participants as they cook with the masters.

Attendees of the cooking festival also had a lot of fun as they participated in the various activities during the cooking weekend festival. The interactive booth area called Lee’s Kitchen gave the participants a hands-on experience of the products, and a deeper appreciation of the brand’s heritage.
