Singaporean food feast at Basix Dusit Thani
Spices and Slices of Singapore

Dusit Thani Manila joins the celebration of the Singaporean National Day, and brings to us a diverse array of flavors, that Singapore is known for.

An equally unique nation with distinct influences, Singapore celebrates its National Day on the 9th of August. Basix All-Day Dining Restaurant, in partnership with Meritus’ Mandarin Orchard Singapore and Cebu Pacific Air, joins in the festivities with a sumptuous Singaporean Food Festival boasting of rich flavors and flairs featured in the Lunch and Dinner Buffet from August 6 to 16, 2012.

Dusit Thani Basix has brought upon us award-winning guest Executive Sous Chef Liew Tian Heong from the world-renowned Chatterbox of Meritus’ Mandarin Orchard, home of the top-rated Hainanese Chicken Rice in Singapore.

Many food lovers have flocked to Chatterbox in appreciation of Chef Liew’s appetizingly posh version of this hawker favorite, and now you can have a taste of Singapore right here in the heart of Makati city.

Appetizers that will flourish your palate, includes some of Chef Liew's favorites which are Mango and Prawn Salad, Achar Pickles, Chef Liew Special Chicken and my favorite the Marinated Mushroom.  Every bite was a delight to the senses, the marinated mushroom in particular was infused with so much flavor, that it tasted like a whole meal rolled into one.  From the spice to the sweet juice coming out of the mushroom, it's an appetizer I wouldn't mind getting more to munch of.

Next up is one of Singapore's more popular and world renowned Bah Kut Teh, or also known as 肉骨茶 in Chinese.  As Singapore is a mix or races that co-exist with each other, but largely of Chinese and Malay descent, this Pork sparerib soup simmered in herbs and spices and simmered for hours continues to be a staple in almost all Chinese Singaporean restaurants, and is almost the soup of choice for tourists and local alike.

Another favorite is the Chili Crab, as Singapore is known to love spice.  This is one dish I dare not miss.  Spiced just right, every bite and sip of fresh crab meat dipped in Chef Liew's chili sauce is a moment to live by
