Manila Signature Dishes Series : Moomba

Manila's Signature dishes brings us to the center of Quezon City, where the sights and sounds of the metro are always at their brightest at night.  There arise a  Restobar known as Moomba.
Chef Jimmy Jardiniiano, a very dedicated chef has brought unto us his masterful skills to bring us one of Manila's most sought after dishes.  The appetizer was a choice of Fruited Crabstick Salad
or Deep Fried Rillet of Chicken with Tomato Salsa
I love the fact that customers are given the choice of having which appetizer to have before the main course, as some may be looking for a little adventure in their dishes,  the Crabstick salad was very tasty and the fruits complemented the salad well, it was very light and easy on the taste buds, while the rillet of chicken offered a Mexican touch with the salsa sauced on top, a little spiciness and saltiness completed the first course of the evening.
I was eagerly waiting for the Main Entree' to be served, as it has been quite sometime since I have had one of these. presenting Ti-an of Ostrich and julienne of vegetables.  It is basically like a shepherd's pie lookalike, instead potatoes were used to top the delicious and yummy ostrich meat.  Others may have not tasted ostrich meat before, but I can assure once you have tasted this, there will definitely be another visit to Moomba.  The meat was very tender and soft, you may wonder does it taste like chicken?  Nope, it tastes like beef, yes beef and without the guilt. That is why more and more people are beginning to appreciate ostrich meat and is also one of the most sought after delicacy in the world..
And to cap off the night, we were served Panna Cota with Mango Ganache.  The Panna Cota was a tad different from the usual and was complemented very well by the Mango Ganache, that gave it a distinctly sweety and soury flavor.  That was one meal I will definitely be back for.
