Manila's Signature Dishes : Chef Robert's Lengua Ala Pobre

One of Manila's best kept secrets, Chef Robert is a cozy restaurant in the streets of Banawe, in Quezon City.  Chef Robert, a young entrepreneur at 28, has been a food enthusiast all his life, don't be deceived by his goodie looks, as he is one hell of a chef.

Chef Robert Tan, partners with Unilever Food Solutions, to bring out the best in his signature dishes.  Setting the pace at which the Philippines is fast becoming the next culinary city of the world.

to a sumptuous meal ahead

The main course, Lengua Ala Pobre.  Chef Robert made this recipe as a result of a request by one of their regular guests, and true enough he had developed it into a masterpiece, with Ox tongue cooked for long hours to make it tender and let the meat bring its flavor out.  A mix of Shitake and bell mushrooms made the dish more tasty, a sprinkle of fried garlic bits and that special sauce I would say, made the dish perfect! Couple it with Casillero del Diablo's wine, made the night more than pleasure, it was satisfaction.
 Panna Cota was a treat, I love that it tastes not too sweet, just had the right kick, with berries to complement the taste and the crusty delicious pie at bottom  made it more that an Italian Classic, It is one of Manila's signature dishes.
