Lighting the Whimsical Winterland at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila

The season of joy has officially begun as the Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Award Winner unlocked the doors to Winterland with the golden key with the ceremonial tree lighting last 21 November.

This year’s theme comes from the classic tale that brings a magical journey. Guests were welcomed by the voices of a choir group with a set of Christmas carols. Afterwards, General Manager, Frank Reichenbach, welcomed corporate clients, in-house guests, and media partners for gracing the event.

“Christmas is a time for family and true friendship. This year’s there, Whimsical Winterland, brings to life the Lewis Carroll classic, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. We are pleased to present how the world can and is indeed more vibrant, enchanting, and delightful when viewed through the eyes of innocence. It is by revelling in childlike wonder, like Alice did in the beloved children’s story, that we may begin fully embracing what this season means for all of us,” said Mr. Reichenbach.

Guest of honour, Officer-in-Charge and City Administrator of Pasig City Atty. Dianeth Valencia, graced the event to celebrate with the hotel. “We are happy to take part in this event as the hotel and the city’s goals are the same in terms of celebrating Christmas. We really can feel and smell the Christmas at Marco Polo,” says Atty. Valencia.

Sharing the spirit of Christmas, the children of Riversprings School were gathered to light up the 25-foot Christmas tree together with the owning company, Xin Tian Ti, officially starting the magical journey. The spectacle of lights bringing wonders to the whimsical decorations brought guests a nostalgia reminiscent of the classic book. Afterwards, the hotel’s associates surprised everyone with a performance over a classic holiday song.

Just as the season of giving is around the corner, the hotel also announced the 3rd year of the Wings of Hope program. This year, guests are encouraged to adopt an eagle stuffed toy for a minimal fee of Php 650, with proceeds supporting the Philippine Eagle Foundation’s efforts in preserving and looking after the national bird.

Resident Manager Roel Constantino concluded the event with a few words, “Fuelled by the spirit of discovery and the heartfelt commitment to serve, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila is proud to be among the most recognized institutions in the hospitality and travel industry. We hope today’s celebration inspires everyone here today to make real what others deem impossible and to remain as curious as ever.”
